Project statement
Alain Richard continues to affirm his love of nature, which he explores as protagonist, producing highly aesthetic photography. He usually focuses his eye on natural cycles such as the moon, light and weather. This chapter is devoted to water, a living medium and an immense challenge for mankind. One way of highlighting the importance of preserving the oceans is to immerse the viewer in the splendour of this precious resource.
Alain Richard bears witness to its beauty and power, inviting us to reflect on the oceans’ predominant place in our environment and their interconnections with other elements such as the moon. His prints sometimes seem abstract, thanks to a magnificent interplay of scale between detail and imposing format, whose enveloping presence underlines our sense of belonging to this sublime natural world.
The infinitely small rubs shoulders with immensity in a way incomprehensible to the viewer, often taken by surprise.
